Quarriors!, "The game of uber strategic hexahedron monster combat mayhem" was recently released for the iPad and some people have cried foul and others have found great joy! If you have been on the fence to know what it looks like and what it "rolls" like (pardon the pun), this is your chance to see it in action!
We're taking the game for a spin in front of our cameras for you to enjoy, laugh at our poorly chosen moves, and decide, if this is something you need to have, want to have, or want to run away from! Grab your dice, grab your glory, and let's... yes, roll!

Justin DeWitt is possibly one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in board gaming. His company has grown at a very fast, but manageable rate, and Castle Panic, a tower defense board game, was so well received it won a spot on the Games Magazine top 100 traditional board games of 2011.
Now, Justin brings us Dead Panic! Based on some fundamental mechanics of Castle Panic, but completely NOT a re-skin, Dead Panic puts YOU in the game as a character who just "made it" to a cabin in the woods, escaping the zombie horde. However, they are onto you, and it's up to you and up to 5 other survivors, to find three missing radio pieces, call for help, and get the heck out of dodge. Meanwhile, of course, there's brain hungry undead creeping (or sometimes sprinting) towards the cabin doors, ready to eat you alive!
We caught up with Justin at Wonko's Toys and Games in Austin Texas for a chance to play Dead Panic at their release party, and, to chat a bit about the game, their company and what's next! Check out our interview with Justin and then definitely check out Dead Panic! It's a killer good time!
Our third and final installment of "Crits-mas" lists is available for all you good (and not so good) little girls and boys! This time out we have a little bit of everything thrown together. Cute? Yup, we got that. Daring Heroes and Heroines? Yup, got that too. Spaceships? Check. Ok, so maybe we left the kitchen sink where it was, but with these three games, you'll have yours, and your friends' hands full!
We hope everyone has enjoyed our holiday lists, but more than anything, we hope YOU are enjoying YOUR holidays! This is a special time of year, all over the world, and from ours to yours, we wish you the happiest of holidays and safe and happy new year!
- Tox and the Critical Family!
Our first "Crits-mas" list was a big success! Thank you all for watching, commenting, and joining in the fun! This week, we take it up a notch, and I do mean a FULL notch! I have a gut feeling Mrs. Tox's choice is going to cause a bit of controversy, but, I agree with her as I like the game a lot in 2 player mode, and with my spouse so we'll see how it goes!
Strap in, because this week, we have a host of good gifting ideas for you and your gaming friends! Once again I share a Gamer's Game, NinjaZach has a Kid's/Family game, and Mrs. Tox has a couple's game! Let us know your thoughts on these choices and what you'd like to get this holiday season!
Happy Holidays to all! (And thank you to our Critical Fan for suggesting the name "Crits-Mas", well chosen!)
It is that time of year again. Well, ok, for us, this is a first, but outside of our little Critical World, the rest of the universe is gearing up for everything and anything from Christmas
to Hanukkah to Kwanzaa and all other kinds of celebrations in between!
Starting today, and over the next few weeks, I'll be bringing you a gamer's game, my son, "NinjaZach", will bring you a kid's/family game, and my wife, "Mrs. Tox" will declare her favorite games she thinks are good for couples to play together!
What are you hoping to get this holiday season? Is it one of these games we shared this time? If not, we'll be back soon with more, but we'd love to hear from you... what one game are you hoping to unwrap this holiday season! We hope you enjoy our small holiday lists and that they either inspire you for gift giving, or, turn you on to something to add to your own wishlist! Happy Holidays to all!
Today we have another Critical Strike, being that it's the end of the year, we wanted to give you more goodies to look at, and, quite honestly, we have some major catching up to do on reviews!
If you like variety, this episode is for you! We have everything from a fictional backstory and movie coming together to make a LCG, war time strategy with Tanks and Artillery, and big business, shady deals, and dirty politics!
This time around we're looking at:
Whether you like very deep, even if mildly confusing card games, unique deck builders with a new perspective, or are looking to laugh, we have you covered... literally!
